AEW Dynamite (5/1/24) Results

- AEW Dynamite opens with a message from Tony Khan saying he's not cleared to travel. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson say they are in charge.

- Swerve Strickland kicks off the show. He again condemns what the Young Bucks did to Tony Khan. Nicholas and Matthew Jackson interrupt him and say that his challenger for double or nothing is a man he hasn't seen in a while and they hit his music. It's Christian Cage. Christian Cage comes out with the whole Patriarchy of Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne, and Killswitch. Christian Cage takes out Swerve. Nick Wayne takes out Prince Nana. Christian Cage says he's doing this because of what Strickland did to Nick Wayne last year and also the fact that Strickland lost their tag team match at AEW All In. The championship match is set for AEW Double or Nothing.

* AEW TNT Championship: Adam Copeland (c) vs. Buddy Matthews

- After the match, Matthews is attacked by Copeland. Copeland goes for the Con-Chair-To but Malakai Black appears beside him. Black encourages him. The lights go out again and Copeland is left in the ring by himself.

* Samoa Joe def. Isiah Kassidy

- Skye Blue vignette calling out Willow Nightingale airs

- Orange Cassidy comes out and says that because of what happened on Saturday's Rampage. Chuck Taylor would never wrestle again. He was hoping that they could put aside their differences and be best friends again one day but that will never happen. Trent Beretta interrupts him and Cassidy runs down to try to fight him but they are separated by security. Kris Statlander comes out and tries to quell the situation. Don Callis comes out and for some reason leaves with Cassidy.

- The Jacksons and Jack Perry are interviewed about attacking Tony Khan. Perry says it is a new era under The Elite.

* FTW Championship: Chris Jericho (c) def. Katsuyori Shibata

- Big Bill helped Jericho win by attacking Shibata.

* Claudio Castagnoli def. Brian Cage

- Rocky Romero challenges Kyle O'Reilly to a match on AEW Rampage.

* Serena Deeb def. Mariah May when Toni Storm threw in the towel

- Adam Copeland is interviewed by Renee Paquette. Kyle O'Reilly appears and tells Copeland he'll have his back.

- Kenny Omega comes out. He details finding out he was suffering from diverticulitis. He details believing that he would need to retire but says that he is going to come back because there's still more work to do and he wants to be in the conversation as one of the greats again. Kenny Omega tells Matthew and Nicholas Jackson that he has part of the power in the company too. Kazuchika Okada comes out. Omega says if Okada gives him a few months, they can finish their rivalry in AEW. Jack Perry attacks Omega from behind. Omega fights back but his injuries are too much to overcome. Jack hits him in the stomach with a chair. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson come out and hit an EVP Trigger on Omega to close out the AEW Dynamite portion of things.
